Recognising and Harnessing Parental Capacity in Parents with Complex Trauma  

A new workshop, specifically for practitioners working with clients who have experienced their own childhood trauma (cPTSD).

Our 3-hour workshop will address the following:

-         What is cPTSD and what does it look like in clients who are trying to parent a child

-         Communication skills with parents with cPTSD

-         Understanding that trauma develops in cycles and is often repeated in families

-         De-escalating conflict and addressing concerns with empathy

-         Understanding diminished capacity and how to work within the parent/s’ capacity to make changes

-         How Parenting Attachment styles impact parents and children through generations

-         Understanding the role of the amygdala and pre-frontal cortex in parents with cPTSD

-         Common complex trauma behavioural patterns and coping strategies

-         Helping clients see that small changes can have BIG impacts on their experience of parenting
