Recognising and Harnessing Parental Capacity in Parents with Complex Trauma

Our new workshop, specifically for practitioners working with clients who have experienced their own childhood trauma (cPTSD). Our 3-hour workshop addresses the following:

  • What is cPTSD and what does it look like in clients who are trying to parent a child

  • Communication skills with parents with cPTSD

  • Understanding that trauma develops in cycles and is often repeated in families

  • De-escalating conflict and addressing concerns with empathy

  • Understanding diminished capacity and how to work within the parent/s’ capacity to make changes

  • How Parenting Attachment styles impact parents and children through generations

  • Understanding the role of the amygdala and pre-frontal cortex in parents with cPTSD

  • Common complex trauma behavioural patterns and coping strategies

  • Helping clients see that small changes can have BIG impacts on their experience of parenting
